Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty surgery can be performed on anyone with sagging skin in the abdominal area due to various reasons. Especially after pregnancy, usually after the first and often the second pregnancy, there is an opening in the muscles of the abdominal wall, in the middle part of the abdomen, in other words, a loosening of the abdomen. This situation is actually caused by a loosening in the abdomen rather than an excess of skin. Abdominoplasty surgery is performed to eliminate this deformation in the abdomen. In abdominoplasty surgery, the muscles inside are brought together in the midline and repaired. Afterwards, the problem is solved by removing excess skin.

In general, a 2-night stay in the hospital is recommended. The patient is usually walked in the 4th hour after the surgery. The patient may return to his normal life especially after the first 2 weeks. It is recommended to use special corsets for 4 weeks after surgery. Short and light walks are allowed in the 2nd week, and all exercises are allowed in the 6th week. Return to completely normal movements is expected by the 1st month.

As long as there is no serious weight gain, the result of the surgery is permanent. The result of the surgery will be even better if the person follows a strict diet and does light exercise. Without a good diet and exercise, it is difficult to get full results from the surgery.

A thin scar planned to remain in underwear and relatively longer than the cesarean section scar is expected in the lower abdomen, and since the belly button is moved to its new location, another scar is expected around the belly button. The scars are especially evident in the first 6-12 months, and then they fade over time. During this healing process, all anti-scar creams are planned according to your skin structure. It should not be forgotten that scarring varies from person to person due to factors such as the person’s skin quality, genetic factors, external factors (smoking, sun exposure, etc.).

Liposuction is a common procedure combined with abdominoplasty. It is a frequently used combination in appropriate patients. But what is important here is that the person has low internal fat, that is, fat that cannot be removed by surgery. In the appropriate patient, it is possible to get very successful results after abdominoplasty with liposuction.

Pregnancy is allowed 18 months after the surgery, and if there is no excessive weight gain, no serious deformation is expected.
