Arm lift

Due to hereditary factors or after weight loss, excess skin/fat is observed in the area we call the upper arm. Our arms are one of the body parts most resistant to sports and diet. If your skin does not sag excessively and has good elasticity, liposuction is sufficient for good shaping. In this process, it is possible to enter the skin by opening only 2 small holes – and the fat inside is removed with vacuum. The skin is tightened with energy-based devices and a scarless recovery is expected, but if there is excess skin, arm lift surgeries are added to this procedure, with surgical incisions that are sometimes hidden under the armpit and sometimes extend to the elbow.

In patients who do not have excessive sagging, the scar can sometimes be hidden only in the skin fold under the armpit, but in patients with sagging skin whose excess skin extends to the elbow, a scar in the form of a thin line extending to the elbow is certain to remain. This scar is especially obvious in the first 6-12 months and fades over time. It should not be forgotten that scarring varies from person to person, depending on hereditary factors and external factors (gravity, smoking, sun exposure). However, it should be known that the arm area is a mobile area and although movements are restricted especially during recovery, they cannot be restricted in the long term. Therefore, arm lift surgery is a surgery where the scars are obvious and cannot be completely hidden.

If only liposuction is performed, you will be discharged on the same day. You can return to your social life in 3-5 days after the surgery with the corsets that will be used in the surgery area for 3 weeks. If surgery is added, this period will last 5-7 days and will be followed with simple dressings during this period. After the procedure, it is recommended that the arms be always higher than the heart area and frequent hand exercises are recommended. After the surgery, serious edema is expected on the back of the hands and wrists for 3-5 days, this situation is completely temporary.

It is very important to use a tight corset after arm lift surgery. In procedures where the skin is the loosest in the body and is circular, that is, completely circumferential, around the bone, skin sagging is relatively higher compared to other surgeries due to gravity. Considering this, you may feel a little tight in your arms after your surgery, which surely will ease within the first month. Active massages, especially in the first 3-6 months, are very important for the proper adaptation of your skin. In incision procedures, it is very important to stay away from the sun for the first year and, if necessary, not to go out in the sun at all in order to keep the scar small.
