Breast Enlargement

It is one of the procedures with the highest post-operative satisfaction rate. This surgery already long in use, especially with the development of implant technology used in breast enlargement in the last 15 years, has increased the satisfaction rate of patients, shortened the recovery period and ensured the permanence of the prostheses even longer.

Isolated breast enlargement is suitable for the patient group where the lack of volume, rather than the sagging of the breast, is at the forefront. If sagging is prominent, enlargement alone is not sufficient and a lifting procedure should also be added.

Two different methods are used in breast enlargement surgeries. While fat injection into the breast is an option, the most popular method is still breast enlargement surgery using breast implants. The technology, filling, softness, durability and shape of silicones used today ensure natural results in breast enlargement surgeries using implants.

A very important piece of information that needs to be mentioned is that the breast itself will not be cut during this surgery. In other words, silicone surgery does not prevent breastfeeding and does not need to be removed during pregnancy.

The most important criterion in choosing an implant is the physical characteristics of the patient. The appropriate implant is decided for by examining the patient’s age, height, shape of the rib cage, shape and size of the breasts. Of course, apart from these features, the patient’s expectations play a significant role. After evaluating the patient’s physical characteristics and measurements, as well as the patient’s expectations, the dimensions of the implant to be placed are decided for.

Old-technology implants had the risk of leaking due to different reasons. However, with the developing technology, the implants used today have the feature of not being shattered, even if cut with a knife. These new generation implants are very resistant to pressure and impacts. They do not need to be changed over time or for reasons such as pregnancy.

There are two types of implants we use today. One of them is round silicone, and the other is drop silicone. Round silicones make the upper part of the breast look fuller. Drop-shaped silicones lift the breast more from the bottom and create natural results as if it were the person’s own breast.

New generation implants are designed to have almost the same consistency as normal breast tissue. In this way, the feeling of touch is natural and the movement of the implants with the body is no different from normal.

In breast enlargement surgery, the breast tissue itself will not be cut. Therefore, there is no need to remove it during pregnancy and it also does not prevent breastfeeding.

In breast enlargement, implants can be placed through an incision under the breast, under the armpit, or through an incision made between the brown tissue (areola) around the nipple and the normal breast skin. The most accepted technique all over the world and whose reliability has been scientifically proven is the technique in which implants are placed through incisions made in the breast fold. I also prefer this incision for breast enlargement. With this technique, you will have a scar of approximately 3-5 cm right in the fold area. This scar will be slightly visible for the first 3-6 months and then fade. However, it should not be forgotten that surgical scars vary from person to person, depending entirely on the person’s own genetic factors and external factors. The entire process is supported by special anti-scar creams and, if necessary, laser treatments.

The anatomical areas where the breast implant is placed can be under the muscle, under the breast tissue, or a combination of both, called dual plane, which is sometimes under the muscle and sometimes under the breast tissue. I usually place the prostheses in a dual plane.

Breast enlargement surgery is performed under general anesthesia, has minimal trauma and takes approximately 1 hour. Post-operative hospital stay is 1 night. It is a surgery that is easy and light enough for one to stand up and take care of his own needs approximately 2-4 hours after the surgery. After the surgery, you can even go to the bathroom with special tapes / strips. We generally recommend that you use your special bra for the first 6 weeks.

In the early stages, there may be swelling, bruising, slight asymmetry and numbness in the nipple. It will take approximately 1 year for the breast skin and breast tissues to adapt to the prostheses. We recommend that you avoid any active movement & exercise for the first 3 weeks and chest exercises for the first 6 weeks. The stitches used are self-dissolving stitches, you can swim in the sea or pool after the 4th week. We recommend a special bra for the first 6 weeks and a sports bra for the first 6 months. We recommend that you do not sleep on the prostheses for the first month. The need for a massage varies depending on the technique used, and sometimes we do not recommend it at all.

New generation prostheses are for a lifetime – although companies guarantee certain conditions for the first 10 years, the silicones used are for a lifetime as long as your preference does not change. All our patients are given a card with information about their prostheses after surgery.
