Lower Eyelid Aesthetics

Excess skin and more commonly formation of bags and herniation in the lower eyelid can be seen at an early age compared to the upper eyelid, mostly due to genetic factors and deformation.

The best treatment for disturbing swellings of the lower eyelid, which cannot be covered with make-up or other non-surgical procedures, is lower eyelid aesthetics. Lower eyelid aesthetics is performed from the inner part of the lower eyelid if there is no significant excess skin. If there is excess skin, it will be removed hiding the scar at the fold point just under the eyelashes.

While lower eyelid aesthetics is usually asked for at an advanced age, it can just as well be performed at an early age (>18) due to the herniation of lower eyelid bags that are formed due to genetic factors. The season being summer or winter does not prevent surgery, which can generally be performed in all seasons with the necessary precautions.

ALower eyelid aesthetics, unlike upper eyelid aesthetics, is usually performed under general anesthesia. A 1-night hospital stay is recommended after lower eyelid aesthetics. You will be discharged the next morning after our check-up. During this process, your stitches that will dissolve on their own within the eyelid will not be removed, there will be no medical dressing covering your eyes, and you will only use special creams and drops in the first days. It is recommended to use ice compresses and keep your head elevated for the first 2 days. Generally, you will have your first check-up within the first 7-10 days.

The adaptation of eye bags that are removed or rearranged after lower eyelid surgery takes relatively longer than after the upper eyelid surgery, and swelling and bruising are observed in the first 7-10 days. Generally, after Day 7, people return to social life in a controlled manner.

After lower eyelid surgery, the adaptation of the thin and very sensitive lower eyelid skin and subcutaneous tissues is completed approximately in the 3rd month, with slight swelling at first. But as with any surgery, the entire recovery takes 6-12 months, which is the natural process of the body. During this process, healing may be supported in some patients with laser treatments, in line with the opinions of our dermatology specialist team.
